We have wine just for that!
Another successful Annual Barrel Tasting season has come and gone with 2 sold-out sessions each weekend in the month of May. This year, Peter led us on a fabulous wine tasting vacanza through Italy. From the valleys of the Piedmont region, to the hills of Tuscany, we tasted a nuanced Barbera Rosé while learning the history of this amazing Langhe table wine. He told stories of fiascos — those straw encased wine bottles that were designed to mass market Chianti that made better candle holders in the 70's sans the wine, bodyguards and truffles, and then he guided us through the revered reds of Tuscany.
Our heads filled with visions of dark cherries and plums, hints of spice and floral notes on the nose as our glasses filled with Barbera, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, and Cab. All the while, Peter filled us with anecdotes of truffles, patience, and wine classifications. Our Italian holiday ended with the Super Tuscan.
Every year, winemakers Alaina and Adam make an exclusive wine just for our guests who partake in the Barrel Tastings. This year it was a Super Tuscan — so aptly named “Vacanza” — 50% Cab and 50% Sangio. Adam literally hand bottled Vacanza from the barrel for every guest who wanted to purchase such a select and limited reserve wine. It was so good! No wonder this sells out every year!
